Curriculum

The benchmark of a quality school is its ability to develop the unique attributes of its students. All academic and co-curricular activities at SIS are designed, implemented and evaluated based on this vital parameter. We believe that every student can achieve excellence and realize their potential, if nurtured in an atmosphere of encouragement and acceptance.

Our curriculum is designed to foster among our students an open mindset and develop their individual passions, thus ensuring overall personal development while helping them achieve other important goals such as securing places in prestigious universities, charting out a career through a professional course or developing a career in sports. Our classrooms deliver rich educational content through modern technology such as interactive boards, the latest in computing and special learning areas such as laboratories for biology, chemistry, physics, language, mathematics, social studies and ICT. The curriculum is in sync with the latest global educational trends & techniques and offers a variety of application avenues that makes it both challenging and rewarding.

Primary School (Grade 1 to 5)

Our primary school program covers a period of five years, wherein the scope and depth of learning increases gradually, while opportunities for play and creative expressions continue to complement learning. The language learning is emphasized in first two years (grades 1 and 2), with the introduction of a second language, along with mathematics in practical terms, to encourage observation and discovery. Children also start using the computer as a tool for learning and communication.

In the Upper Primary School (grades 3 to 5), children begin to use their acquired skills in language and mathematics to take the cognitive problem solving initiatives. Care is taken by teachers to ensure whole-class learning and the purpose of assessment is to reflect the quality of the students’ understanding of concepts.

Middle School (Grade 6 to 8)

In the middle school years, self-reliance in learning becomes an important aim. The curriculum incorporates social studies and science in addition to previously taught subjects. Attention is given to attain a requisite level in each subject through independent and collaborative learning. The afternoon activity programs provide each child an opportunity to discover and build a ‘co-curricular’ interest and engage in creative and constructive pursuits.

High School (Grade 9 to 12)

The High School proposes to provide students with the very best of globally accepted education for Grades 9 to 12. During these years students prepare themselves for their entrance into the world of higher education in accordance with their academic inclination and caliber.

The following academic objectives are stressed upon in High School:

  • To counsel and prepare the students for higher education
